Taking place in Rawmarsh the day will focus on the role of local people as custodians in the conservation of the environment.
During the event OPAL (Open Air Laboratories) will bring together local people, non-governmental organisations, scientists and policy makers together to explore the benefits of involvement to both stakeholders and the environment. The conference will seek to identify the factors that successfully engage the public with the landscape with an aim to encourage greater involvement in management and conservation in the future.
There will be a mix of fascinating talks and workshops, sharing first-hand accounts of engagement activities, citizen science projects, conservation methods and funding opportunities. There will be discussion sessions providing a chance for people to air their hopes and concerns, share their sob and success stories and make vital local and national connections.
