Event Info
Participant’s will learn the traditional art of hand carving techniques in woodwork. Participants will learn how to use a small hand power tool (router) that will cut grooves in wood. This can be used to follow hand drawn or printed templates stuck to wood. Participants will learn how to cut letters, words and simple line pictures in wood. By the end of the workshop participants will know how to safely and effectively use a hand held router. Each of the participants will have the opportunity to make a truly unique handmade signage incorporating simple designs and letters.
Hand carving of letters takes several months to learn, however, with a small handheld router most people who have never used power tools can within a short time make a reasonable quality sign. Practice would of course improve the quality.
Participants will also get the chance to make a named sign as a practice piece, this could be a way marker, house name or personal sign.
Please note due to the nature of the workshop places are extremely limited, please book to avoid disappointment using the details provided below.
Refreshments & lunch will be provided but please bring suitable clothing and footwear, that you don’t mind getting dirty.
All tools will be provided for the purpose of the training.
