Worsbrough Volunteer Workday

Saturday 3rd February saw the first of four volunteer workdays for 2018 taking place on site at Worsbrough Mill & Country Park.

As part of ongoing improvement works to improve the  site for wildlife & the local community the first volunteer day of 2018 took place. Four seasonal workdays will take place on site throughout the year (dates TBC), organised by the DVLP in conjunction with Barnsley Museums & Twiggs Ground Maintenance.

Despite a rather wet and chilly day we still had a great turn out ready to get stuck in! There was plenty of work to do and the weather certainly didn’t dampen our spirits. Tasks included collecting litter (15 plus bags) throughout the site, cutting back any overhanging vegetation, access improvements and filling in some of the degraded & waterlogged holes in the paths with two tonnes of aggregate.

(Volunteers gather round at the start of the day, we had approx. 15 helpers throughout the day)

If you would like to get involved with the next workday or similar activities please keep a look out on our events page or get in touch  at [email protected] . A big thanks again to all who helped throughout the day, every little helps!
