Event Info
As part of an exciting new collaboration with Northern Rail, the DVLP will be working with there fantastic partners at Sorby Natural History Society to undertake a number of recording visits across the Dearne Valley network of railway stations.
To date we have surveyed 6/8 stations on the Dearne line, with a further two surveys organised at Barnsley stations; Thurnscoe & Goldthorpe. We are also hoping to fit a repeat visit in to Mexborough station where we were sadly rained off earlier this month.
Station | Time | Meeting Point |
Thurnscoe Train Station | 10am-1pm | Outside T station entrance |
***LUNCH 1-2PM*** | ||
Goldthorpe Train Station | 2pm-5pm | Outside G station entrance |
These will take form via a number of pre-organised field visits with special permissions to access ‘asset areas’ of green space that adjoin local train stations owned and managed by Northern Rail. We will be recording anything we encounter including plants, animals, insects etc. This will provide important data of species distribution across the Dearne and to fill in any gaps in ecological data, we expect to find lots of goodies as these areas have never been surveyed before!
If you are interested in getting involved please use the contact details below to register your interest with DVLP project officer Roseanna Burton.
