Your Woods, Your Future
Love nature? Want to get outside and explore your local history & wildlife? Or just enjoy a woodland ramble? Join us for a series of talks and discussions to find out more about the heritage, wildlife and management of woodlands and how you can get involved with your local woods as part of the Dearne 'Woodland Discovery Project'.
Throughout the past 18 months ecological consultants at Haycock & Jay have been working closely with the DVLP, stakeholders, volunteers & community groups in order to survey & asses the significance of 5 local priority woodlands across the Dearne project area.
The project has worked closely with the local community to identify the value, threats & ambitions of these sites for the local area, in terms of history and biodiversity. A series of events have taken place that explore these sites, train individuals and record the plants & animals of these important habitats in order to guide future management & monitoring to safeguard these sites for the future. As the project draws to a close we will be holding a small conference to share all the exciting finds of the project, looking at the opportunities, threats & helping to share best practise and provide a networking event for interested parties,
There is something for everyone, whether you are a local volunteer, landowner, manager or just a woodland enthusiast in terms of natural and local history, come along and share your enthusiasm with like minded individuals
An itinerary of the day will be posted shortly so please keep a look out for updates, the conference is FREE & refreshments will be provided. To register your interest and secure a place please contact project lead Roseanna Burton from the DVLP using the details below.
