The DVLP has recently commissioned a range of artists to provide a series of artistic responses to highlight the significance of the River Dearne and how it has shaped the people and landscape over centuries. The river is at the heart of the Dearne Valley but is often overlooked and forgotten. The artists’ work will raise awareness of the river, where it comes from, where it goes and the impact it has had on the area.
The three individual artists are:
- Daniel Jones – a sculptor
- Patrick Murphy – an artist, designer and curator
- Louise Wright – an artist
The artist partnership is made up of:
- James Lockey
- Andy Seward
- Hayley Youell
All of the artists have a direct link with the Dearne Valley and their responses are diverse.
You can find more details of the commissions via a dedicated page on our website.
We will keep the website updated with details of the workshops they will be carrying out linked to commissions, as well as providing details of the commissions as they progress.
