A grant of £500 was awarded through the DVLP community grant programme which funded the commissioning of an accredited textile conservator to assess the condition of the two Regimental Colours. The inspection was an essential first step in getting the Barnsley Pals Regimental Colours preserved for future generations and to help in the remembrance of those who were involved in the First World War, especially those who died.
Local historian Jane Ainsworth made the grant application to the DVLP on behalf of the PCC for St Mary and St Paul’s Churches to initiate the project.
