DVLP are excited to announce that Community Officer Roseanna Burton has been nominated as an OPAL Community Champion, in recognition of her enthusiasm and commitment to supporting communities in engaging with the natural environment and their local wildlife.

An important part of the DVLP’s work is to preserve, protect and enhance the environmental heritage across the Dearne Valley and to actively engage local communities in order to achieve this. Our projects, Surveying the Dearne and Creating and Managing Sites, are designed to equip local communities with the skills and knowledge required to survey and identify plants and wildlife across the Dearne Valley, as well as increasing knowledge about practical works which can improve the environment. Roseanna has been hard at work delivering these projects in partnership with OPAL, who provide a range of user friendly survey guides to help everyone learn more and get closer to nature.

You can read all about Roseanna and her nomination of Community Champion by visiting her profile page on the OPAL website here. You can also visit Our Projects pages to find lots more information about the work of the DVLP.
