Event Info
The newly formed Barnsley Main Heritage Group have organised a commemorative event at the Barnsley Main site to mark the 150th anniversary of the Oaks Colliery Disaster.
The group have made 383 wooden crosses with each one bearing the name of a victim of the 1866 disaster. People are invited to come to Barnsley Main to help plant the crosses in the grass bank between the building and Oaks Lane, around the site of the ventilation shaft of the Oaks Colliery.
