Destination Green Surveys

We are looking for naturalists and volunteers to help accompany the DVLP & Sorby Natural History Society to carry out a series of wildlife surveys at a number of Dearne train stations as part of a project with Northern Rail.

Dates

Start Date: 6th September 2018, 10:00
End Date: 6th September 2018, 17:00

Event Info

As part of an exciting new collaboration with Northern Rail, the DVLP will be working with there fantastic partners at Sorby Natural History Society to undertake a number of recording visits across the Dearne Valley network of railway stations.

To date we have surveyed 4/8 stations on the Dearne line, with a  further two surveys organised at Doncaster stations on Thursday 6th Sept 2018.

Field visits:

Station Time Meeting Point
Conisbrough Train Station 10am-1pm Outside C station entrance

***Lunch 1-2pm***

Mexborough Train Station 2pm-5pm Outside M station entrance

These will take form via a number of pre-organised field visits with special permissions to access ‘asset areas’ of green space that adjoin local train stations owned and managed by Northern Rail. We will be recording anything we encounter including plants, animals, insects etc. This will provide important data of species distribution across the Dearne and to fill in any gaps in ecological data, we expect to find lots of goodies as these areas have never been surveyed before!
