The Hear My Voice Literacy Festival 2017 aims to be a wonderful celebration of the past years work. The festival has something for everyone, from ranting rhyme to walking poets.

Starting at the Maurice Dobson Museum, walk the paths and fields of Darfield and Brierley Common and retrace the footsteps of Ebenezer Elliot, ‘the Corn Law Rhymer’ – one of Darfield’s most famous sons.

Ebenezer Elliott

Elliott was a poet and political radical with a reputation equal to that of Wordsworth and during the 1840s he made Darfield Parish his home. This activity – part walk, part workshop, part discussion – will be sure to surprise you and get your imagination flowing.

Approx. 3-4 hours with a free mini bus to help with the mileage! This event is free but booking is essential.
