Event Info
Join us along Elsecar’s 1798 Georgian canal and its towpaths. Take part in a community litter pick, help to make footpaths accessible and enjoy a picnic and history talk (please bring a packed lunch).
Find out all about the creepy crawlies, animals and plants that have made this once industrial canal their home and a haven for nature by joining local nature experts to record and identify what you see.
Free Nature Explore at 11am & 1.30pm. Picnic at 1pm.
Meet at Elsecar Canal Basin, this will be signposted on the day.
There will also be a guided bat walk in the evening, further details are on our events page.
This is a DVLP event led in partnership with Barnsley’s Museum service and Sorby Natural History Society.
