Event Info
As darkness develops and the familiar sounds of day diminish, a new way of apprehending the world becomes possible in which imagination becomes the sixth sense. During this poetic night-walk with poet Steve Ely, participants will encounter the landscape around Elsecar Heritage Centre (including the Beam Engine which will be lit and working exclusively for you). We will enter into the natural and psychogeographical dimensions of this unique environment, aided by readings of Steve’s own poems and the work of other writers. Although the night-walk is not a conventional poetry workshop and can be enjoyed by poets and non-poets alike, participants might want to bring a notebook and pen in order to record some of their experiences & responses during the walk, which we can share after the walk over a pint.
Meet outside Maison Du Biere, Elsecar Heritage Centre.
Tickets are free as these events are funded by the Dearne Valley Landscape Partnership.
Donations to Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust (charity no. 1164496) are gratefully received.
