Event Info

Join us in the Ironworks at Elsecar Heritage Centre for an evening celebration of original artworks, created by local artists to celebrate the spirit and survival of the River Dearne and commissioned by the DVLP #artofthedearne programme.

The celebration event will include the installation of a textile piece ‘Fragments,’ as well as a special screening of the artwork ‘Of The River’ with artist introductions and live music from Ray Hearne.

‘Of The River’

Dearne natives, Andy Seward, Hayley Youell and James Lockey formed a collective to create a new multidisciplinary artwork in response to the River Dearne.

Taking a contemporary spin on the radio ballad format, the artwork blends music, sound and film created and captured locally. The work also features collaborations with local poet/songwriter Ray Hearne, nationally acclaimed choral arranger Barry Coope and the quintessential ‘Thurnscoe Sound’, Thurnscoe Male Harmonic Voice Choir.

‘Fragments’

A textile installation created by Louise Wright made in collaboration with Wombwell Park Street Primary School, inspired by the biodiversity of the River Dearne.
