Help to make the River Dearne Sculpture.
As part of our Art of the Dearne project, local sculptor Dan Jones will be creating a permanent sculptural seat that will be sited alongside the River Dearne. Dan’s design for the River Dearne Sculpture contains solid coloured cast glass flames, inspired by the old coking works chimneys that once stood at Manvers.
Help him to create these, by making the textured patterns for the flames and then encasing them in a mould that will later be used in the casting process. Once the sculpture is installed on site, you can go and search for your flame!
All materials will be provided but please bring protective clothing such as an apron.
This drop in workshop is suitable for complete beginners but does involve using sharp tools therefore an age of 16+ is advised.
There is no need to book in advance for the workshop – just come along when you can!
