Event Info

This walk will explore the geology and ‘ice age’ archaeology of Nearcliffe Woods and its immediate environs, near Conisbrough (SK 52850 99850).

Situated above the River Don on the Magnesium Limestone, the walk will consider the evidence for our ‘ice age’ past and how this can be used to reconstruct landscapes through time.

We will meet at the footpath sign (see below) on the bend at the bottom of Garden Lane, Cadeby just before the entrance to Cadeby Quarry, postcode DN12 3BJ.  From there we will walk across the disused viaduct taking in the magnificent views of the Don Gorge before heading to quarry.

Please dress appropriately and wear sensible, sturdy shoes as the terrain is quite uneven and steep at times.

To book your FREE place please call or email the DVLP team.  Details below.
