Maurice Dobson (1912-1990) was a unique character who lived a remarkable life on his own terms. The script for The Life of Maurice Dobson was developed from speaking to people who knew him and archive research.

Local actor Simon Carr, brilliantly directed by Jow Rose, did a superb job of getting to the heart of Maurice’s complex personality. The film is based on a play version which was performed at the Maurice Dobson Museum in April 2016. People who remember Maurice could not believe how accurate Simon’s portrayal was.

We are now working with the museum to find a way of showing the films to their visitors.
