A new bridge for Worsbrough

June saw the opening of a new bridge partly funded by the Dearne Valley Landscape Partnership

The DVLP were delighted to be invited to the official opening of a new pedestrian footbridge in Worsbrough. This bridge, across the River Dove, replaces one that was washed in the floods of 2007. This fits in with the Exploring the Dearne element of the DVLP programme. Whilst, unfortunately, this bridge isn’t fully accessible due to the location and terrain it means many more people can now access Woolley Bank Wood from Worsbrough Canal Basin. The DVLP contributed to the funding partnership for this project which also included the local ward alliance and Barnsley Council’s Section 106 funds. Barnsley Council’s Highways Service have done a great job and it fits in with the wider improvements within Worsbrough Mill Museum & Country Park meaning people can get out and about to explore the area.
