Worsbrough Mill & CP Summer Work Day 2018

Friday 27th July 2018 saw the second of our seasonal volunteer work days on this fantastic 240 acre site for wildlife and people.

July Workday

As part of on going improvement works on site, the DVLP have organised a series of volunteer work days focusing on seasonal tasks throughout the year working to support the Museums service with help from Twiggs ground maintenance.

Despite a very wet start to the day we still had a good number of volunteers who lent a hand throughout . Works included general maintenance on site, including footpath clearance & cutting back of overhanging vegetation, litter picks with a total of 7 full bin liners of rubbish collected and the creation of dead wood piles for wildlife with old brash.

However, one of the most labour intensive jobs of the day was the replacement of just under 40 metres of damaged and collapsed fencing around the visitor hub of the site. Thanks to the help of volunteers and Twiggs a new linear stretch has been replaced thanks to funding provided by Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

Should you wish to get more involved in volunteering on site please contact [email protected]. For further workdays do keep a look out on our website as we plan ahead for autumn and winter.

In the meantime why not visit this fantastic site for a day out! more info can be found at: http://www.worsbrough-mill.com/country-park
