Join the Forestry Commission ranger to learn about Hazel Coppice and Layering; a traditional woodland management practice where hazel stools are cut on a regular cycle to provide a valuable supply of wood and provide habitats for wildlife. Learn the theory on planting hazel; undertake first coppice cuts, rotational coppice and how to layer a shoot to spread a coppice.
