Roseanna Burton
Community Officer
Roseanna was with the DVLP from the outset working as a community officer on heritage and environmental projects. She focused on the delivery of the environmental element of the programme including community surveys, the management of key sites and developing new skills. Roseanna previously worked for the RSPB, as the community engagement officer for the Sherwood, Trent and Tame Futurescapes project. Previous to that Roseanna dedicated almost seven years to supporting a number of community engagement and conservation projects for various organisations throughout Nottinghamshire and Sheffield. Roseanna has a BSc in Environmental Conservation and studied select modules of an MSc in Environmental Management at Sheffield Hallam. In addition, Roseanna spent time working as an ecologist for Access Ecology in Sheffield, undertaking UK and European protected species surveys, with a keen interest in bats, which is now one of her special fields. Roseanna left DVLP at the end of June 2019 at close of the project and has now joined the Canal and River Trust in the East Midlands as the Community Roots and Engagement Coordinator.

Sally Gawthorpe
Community Officer
Sally was one of three community officers working on community heritage and environmental projects, having previously worked in the team as project support assistant. Sally is a History graduate and has an MA in Cultural Heritage Management from the University of York. Throughout her MA studies Sally has enjoyed exploring the diverse nature of heritage and particularly the opportunities it can present for connecting communities, as well as providing a catalyst for regeneration. Alongside her studies Sally has also worked in a number of different administrative roles for a range of organisations. This has included experience in purchasing and credit control, maintaining databases and providing administrative support for project teams.

Liane Holdsworth
Landscape Partnership Development Manager
Liane was the Partnership Manager and joined the team in June 2017. She joined the team from her post as Visitor Experience Manager at RSPB Old Moor where she developed the facilities and activities to bring children closer to nature. Born in the Dearne Valley, Liane has worked in social housing, workforce development, training and event management across the country before returning home to Barnsley and developing her passion for nature and the communities of the Dearne Valley. Claire Farley
Project Support Assistant
Claire joined the team as Project Support Assistant in January 2017 and progressed to the role of Project Officer in September 2018 with a focus on Archaeology, Art and Learning. Claire previously worked at North Yorkshire County Record Office, as Head of Reprographics. She was responsible for digitising the collections held at the Record Office and also for external clients generating significant income for the department. During this time Claire was lucky enough to scan Shakespeare’s first folio, several Barbara Hepworth Lithographs and original Stephenson’s Rocket drawings. Since relocating to South Yorkshire and becoming a resident of the Dearne Valley, Claire has gained considerable experience in various administrative roles including recruitment, compliance and safeguarding. David Broadhead
Project Support Officer
David was with DVLP for the last 9 months of the project from Jan - Sep 2019. He had previously worked in the Finance Industry for over 25 years with some of the major banks - but we didn't hold that against him! His banking career culminated in the post of Head of Intermediary Strategy at RBS in London. David subsequently joined Business Link in Sheffield working with a diverse range of small business entrepreneurs helping new business grow across the region. It was in this capacity that David met a local brewery owner and decided to join the business as Brewery Manager. Thus began his love of all things beer related, he eventually became a director of SIBA the industry trade body for independent brewers in the UK. David has also worked as an Enterprise Champion with BMBC helping young people in the borough develop their entrepreneurial skills. He has most recently spent time in some of the region’s Libraries acting as an information officer. Having lived in the Dearne Valley for the past 20 years he is passionate about the region and its development. He joined DVLP in the latter stages of the project and worked with the team to help ensure that the project left a lasting legacy.

Lyndon Firth-de Laci
Community Sector Specialist Officer
Lyndon joined the DVLP for the last few months of the project on secondment from his substantive post as Visitor Services Assistant with Barnsley Museums, He didn't have to move far in the new job, as his ‘old office’ was just across the road in the Visitor Centre at Elsecar Heritage Centre. In his substantive post he could regularly be seen demonstrating the Newcomen Beam Engine or giving history tours to Elsecar visitors. In addition to this he could also be found proofreading promotional material for Barnsley Museums. On a good day he can spot a typo at 10 paces! Prior to this he worked in Arts & Events at Barnsley MBC, and has experience working on a number of events including Tour de Yorkshire, the Christmas Lights Switch On and the annual Mayors Parade. Having a degree in Media and Business, his skills and experience were put to good use working on our interpretation panels as part of the ‘Signposting the Dearne’ project along with with many other key projects.
